Revisiting an Album from 2006

Irrespective of what generation one belongs to, it would be extremely difficult to find a music lover, who hasn’t hummed the melodious songs from the movie Gangster.

There are some super hit albums that have multiple good songs but only a couple of them manage to raise the bar. 

While some of them have a melodious music, the lyrics are average. At times, it happens that the poetry is embellished with amazing words, but the music doesn’t turn out to be catchy. 

At some instances, it so happens that the opening lines are decent, but people hardly want to recite the stanzas.

One of my personal favourites, Gangster, stands out handsomely in all the areas. Each song on the Album is loaded with breathtakingly fantastic music, enthralling prelude, delightful lyrics on the opening lines and passionately penned down stanzas. Cherry on the top is – each song is diverse and sung directly from the soul, with truckloads of affection.

Technically, it has 5 songs but 3 of them turned out to be so popular that the remainder 2 were under-rated. 

On this blog, I would like to express about the stanzas of each of the songs from the album. They do not need an explanation, so I would like to just copy them here with an intent to revisit and hum these soulful poetries.

4) लम्हा लम्हा

तेरी आँखें दिखती है हमें सपनें सितारों के

तेरे होठों पे लिखा है जो तुम बोले इशारों में

ख़्वाबों के कारवां में रात चलती है

जाने किस आग में यह शबनम जलती है

बहकती शाम आयी है तुझे लेकर के बाहों में

तुझे छू लूँ के राखु मैं छुपाकर के निगाहों में

शरमाती इठलाती है मचलती है

जाने किस आग में यह शबनम जलती है

3) या अली

मुझे कुछ पल दे कुर्बत के

फ़कीर हम तेरी चाहत के

रहे बेचैन दिल कब तक

मिले कुछ पल तो राहत के

बिना तेरे न इक पल हो

न बिन तेरे कभी कल हो

ये दिल बन जाये पत्थर का

न इसमें कोई हलचल हो

2) तू ही मेरी शब है सुबह है

आँखों से पढ़ के तुझे दिल पे मैंने लिखा

तु बन गया है मेरे जीने की एक वजह

तेरी हँसी, तेरी अदा

औरों से है बिलकुल जुदा

आँखें तेरी शबनमी, चेहरा तेरा आईना

तु है उदासी भरी कोई हसीं दास्ताँ

दिल में है क्या, कुछ तो बता

क्यों है भला खुद से खफा

1) भीगी भीगी सी है

सपनों का साया, पलकों पे आया

पल में हंसाया, पल में रुलाया

फिर भी ये कैसी कमी है

आधी आधी जागी, आधी आधी सोयी

आँखें ये तेरी तो लगता है रोई

लेकर के नाम हमारा

रूठा रूठा रब, छूटा छूटा सब

टूटा टूटा दिल, तेरे बिना अब
