Paryushan gives me eight days to pause, introspect, restrain, forgive, turn inward and, above all, remain aware.
Perhaps, the deeper question is not how much introspection was done during these eight days, but how much of this awareness carries into the other 357.
There should ideally be no great divide between the two.
So, a note to self:
*Am I living the 357 days of my year like the 8 days of Paryushan, or am I merely living the 8 days like the other 357?*
The true essence of Paryushan is perhaps not that these eight days become more spiritual, but that they remind me to bring this awareness into the remaining 357; into my thoughts, reactions, attachments, words, actions and relationships.
The real Paryushan may not be these eight days.
It may be what these eight days awaken in the other 357.
